Online Therapy
How can I help you?
This means you get all of your therapy services online while you sit on your own couch rather than mine! Live video sessions are conducted on a secure platform, or if you prefer, we can even have a session on the phone. This means my services are offered in multiple sates and even out of the country! For those of you who may have difficulty accessing services or may have physical limitations that make office visits a struggle... I've got therapy for you!
How it works
After you decide that I'm your girl (kidding! but not really), head to the Appointment tab on my website and complete the submission form.
From there, I'll email you to schedule your intake session with me. We'll decide on a time, I'll give you access to the Therapy Portal, and that's where you can complete all of the paperwork electronically.
Just like in-person appointments, confidentiality is my number one priority. I use a specific HIPAA-compliant platform for all of my online therapy sessions. It's easy to use and reliable, making online therapy a breeze.
Some things to remember before starting therapy online:
- Ensure you have a reliable internet connection.
- Test the audio & video before each session.
- Find a good location that is totally private so you can fully immerse yourself into the time you've carved out for yourself.
Therapy duration
Some providers believe that people should be in therapy forever - and others do not. I believe that everyone should have access to affordable and accessible mental health care whenever they want it - if they want it.
I am a believer in working on your mental health all year round. That’s right 365 days a year doing the work! (You can have a day off on Leap years.) Working on your mental health may mean therapy but it may also look like support groups, connection with something larger than ourselves, being in nature, or doing body work, etc.
When we talk about the therapeutic process (how long you go to therapy for) - this is what varies greatly from person to person. Many life concerns can be dealt with in a brief period of time, but this is not always the case. Unfortunately, there is no magic formula to determine how long therapy will take.
I have some clients whom I meet with on a weekly basis for a few months - some I may meet with bi weekly for a months and others that I see on a weekly or bi weekly basis for years.
Usually my clients start out with weekly sessions and then if they choose to change to bi weekly sessions or another level of frequency we make it happen. The reason for starting out with weekly sessions and why this is most common in the world of therapy is for consistency and comfortability. We usually get to a point in therapy when we share things with our therapists that we have never shared with anyone else before - and in order to do that we have to build trust and feel comfortable in the room. A lot of the times what helps us do this is consistency and increased exposure to the normalization of having a safe and secure space to share our inner thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental environment.
With all that being said - there is not a great way to estimate how long you will be in therapy for. But it is always your choice and something that you and I will discuss along the way.
